J-Street identifies with the latest effort to weaken the State of Israel - July 14, 2010

The Shomron Liaison Office, on behalf of the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria want to thank the New York Times for sharing with their readership about the unwavering support of Jewish and Christian supporters for Judea and Samaria. We would like to thank them for revealing that the organizations pointed out in the article ( NYTimes July 6, 2010) are all operating in accordance to the law, despite the NY Times very best efforts and clear agenda to find evidence of wrongdoing and lawbreaking,. Had they similarly scrutinized the vast array of extreme-left and anti-Israel, Islamic, "pro-Palestinian" organizations and charitable funds operating in the same areas, they would have undoubtedly emerged with a much more exciting story about billions of dollars being used to support Hamas, a terror organization and other political activity promoting the de-legitimization of Israel.

Regarding the recent press-release by the J-Street lobby:

The recent call by J-Street to “investigate American charities that fund Israeli settlement activity", is just the latest attempt by the extreme-left organizations to deny Jews the right to live in the land of Israel. J-Street – much like their counterparts at the New Israel Fund are well-funded organizations dedicated to imposing their political narrative on the residents of Judea and Samaria, the citizens of Israel and the Jewish People as a whole. In this capacity, they masquerade as a pro-Israel organization, yet usually support decisions that deter Israel as they face a world united in their support for Islamic extremism and hatred of the State of Israel.

During the current period of the construction freeze as demanded by President Obama, basic humanitarian needs such as schools, clinics and additional medical facilities, synagogues, and other humanitarian facilities are unable to provide basic human services due to the construction freeze. Denying housing to Jewish residents has nothing to do with the construction freeze but is J-Streets way of cleansing Judea and Samaria of any Jewish presence.

We dare to ask why is that J-street feels so uncomfortable about Israel’s policies in Judea and Samaria, maybe its that American Jews who feel so uncomfortable about Israeli actions or policies are probably struggling with their own Jewish identity. The greater their identity struggle as Jews the more venomous their actions are against Israel.

However, despite this incessant campaign to de-legitimize Judea and Samaria and the elected government of Israel, we remain entirely confident that our many loyal supporters will not be deterred, and will continue to express their love of Israel through their kind charity and volunteer work – for which we are extremely grateful.

Thank you,

David Ha'ivri
