Twinning with Jewish communities

Outreach to communities in Israel and “twinning” with Jewish communities around the globe.

With it’s wide variety of professionals, academics, religious teachers and leaders and social-workers, our communities have been increasingly involved in social-action causes around Israel. Several months ago our communities offered to absorb young Ethiopian immigrants, who were not being accepted into schools elsewhere in the country, into our education system. As such, the Shomron Liaison Office is directing efforts towards twinning communities in the Shomron with other communities around Israel, with the aim of sharing our numerous resources and infrastructure with communities in need.

In addition, the Shomron Liaison Office seeks to twin the various towns and villages in the Shomron with Jewish communities around the globe, as a way of showing solidarity with Israel, as well as serving to promote and strengthen unity among Jews from across the world.

As part of this “twinning” program, we attempt to direct and encourage leaders and organizers from both the Shomron and foreign communities to run for the project, and to establish contacts in their twin-community. Specifically, such a program would promote “pen-pal” projects and video-conferencing between school students and other youth groups and establishments, as well as mutual joint programs of learning and other educational activities.
