The Shomron Liaison Office is also involved in the political battle to preserve the land of Israel.
As well as the general public relations projects mentioned above, our
office has produced – and continues to produce – a range of informative
literature, slide-shows and films in a number of languages. In addition to this, our office continues to establish contacts with political figures and decision-makers across the world, and to expose them to “the other side” of the Israeli-Arab conflict – the side that is rarely if ever represented in the media. Due to various political agendas among most mainstream-media operators, the only picture that many people around the world (including those politicians and decision-makers) receive of the Jewish residents of Yehuda and the Shomron (Judea and Samaria), is that of the negative “settler” stereotype. The Shomron Liaison Office seeks to counter this one-sided misrepresentation of the facts by contacting politicians and decision makers from around the world in a number of ways: · Via telephone, email or otherwise to present our point of view; · Holding face-to-face meetings – either in Israel or in their own countries; · Organising personal guided tours of communities across Yehuda and the Shomron (Judea and Samaria). Recently, the Shomron Liaison Office organised a guided tour through the Shomron for one-time Republican Presidential-Candidate and governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee, during his trip to Israel. During and after the tour, Mr Huckabee expressed his support and solidarity with the Jewish communities of Yehuda and the Shomron, as well as his opposition to recent American pressure on the Israeli government to destroy a great number of them. |
